About Dr. Na'ayem

Career and Academic Highlights

Before teaching full time for Missouri State University, Dr. Na'ayem taught Business Law, American Government and Politics (political science), and other business classes (including Financial Accounting, Personal Finance, Principles of Business, and Business Communications) at Ozarks Technical Community College until 2022 while serving concurrently as a compliance officer for a regional public accounting firm.

Over his professional career, Dr. Na'ayem has served as a compliance officer and as a director, manager, aide, and consultant to employers and clients in various industries, including real estate development, portfolio and asset management, and syndication; county government and tax administration; and private law firms.

Dr. Na'ayem graduated with honors from (Southwest) Missouri State University in 1997, where he was an active student leader on campus and earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management, majoring in Administrative Management with a minor in Business Legal Studies. He then attended the University of Tulsa College of Law, where he graduated with honors and earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Certificate in Public Policy and Regulatory Studies in 1999.

Professional Commitment

With a background in management and law, Dr. Na'ayem is passionate about sharing his experiences over the past 25+ years in the private and public sectors with his students, be it working with law firms, working as a county official, providing business and consulting services to others, or serving as a compliance officer for firms in the area. He is passionate about feeding students the knowledge and experiences needed to succeed, whether as future business leaders or those wishing to go to law school and become future legal practitioners.

Legacy at Missouri State University

As an alumnus of the University, Dr. Na'ayem profoundly connects to the institution and is proud to carry his family's legacy.

Dr. Na'ayem is the son of an immigrant of Chaldean-Assyrian ancestry who came to the United States for higher education, freedom, and a better quality of life. While he is a native of Springfield, Missouri, he is proud to teach at his alma mater, where his father and mother first met as students.

Several other family members, including uncles and aunts, also attended (what was then known as) Southwest Missouri State University, and some even taught there as instructors before him.

His father and uncle were founding members (and officers) of the Association of International Students on campus during their time as students in the late 1960s and early 1970s,

Furthermore, his maternal grandparents also have a memorial endowment established in their honor through the University's foundation to help students with their financial needs, particularly those from modest beginnings seeking an education to enter the professional workforce.

While a student at MSU, Dr. Na'ayem was a student leader on campus, serving in the Student Government Association as a senator and as a director and officer in the cabinet, on several committees and commissions as a student representative, as a special projects assistant to the Vice President for Administrative Services, as a district officer for three terms for a worldwide campus service organization, and as a member and officer of several other campus organizations.
